Are You Getting Your Daily Dose of Self Care?

What place does self care 💆🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️♥️ have in your schedule? Is it a priority, or does it always get pushed aside so you can take care of everyone else’s needs?

If you are like me (and I would guess that you are), you are probably last on your list. But I would just like to remind you of something you may have heard before… You can’t pour from an empty cup. And you definitively can’t pour if you have given away your cup! Anyone else ever feel like that? 🤦🏻‍♀️😱

It’s important to take care of ourselves, and give to others from the overflowing abundance. Self care is so important that even Forbes Magazine recognized its value in a featured article, September 2017. Forbes is an American business magazine, more than 100 years old, featuring stories on finance, technology, science and law. If they can acknowledge the value, why can’t the rest of us do it too?🤷🏻‍♀️

Recognizing it is much easier than actually doing it, right? But if we don’t do it, we will burn out. And who has time for that?! 🕓

So, first let’s get clear about what self care actually is… it is about finding what you truly enjoy and what makes you feel good. 😊 And it doesn’t have to be grand, expensive or elaborate. You can hear more of my thoughts on that in my FaceBook live here. I also shared a few of my favorite ways to practice self care, including sleep 😴 and scrapbooking. 📷✂️

There are many simple things you can do. Here are just a few ideas: 🤔💡

  1. Eat yummy, healthy foods.
  2. Exercise.
  3. Spend time with friends.
  4. Spend time out in nature.
  5. Practice mindfulness through meditation or journaling.
  6. Sing or dance!💃🏻🕺🏼 (Try the dance party linked to the top of my blog page! cool)

And as for the how… you MUST prioritize it! Make the decision to put you first. Put on your own oxygen mask before you pass out and can’t help anyone else!

Find a space in your schedule (even if it’s only 5 minutes), plan something that will refresh you, and DO IT! Do it today. Don’t put it off for the weekend or a holiday or the zombie apocalypse. 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️ Start today and be consistent. You will notice a difference.

And if you want a little more support in determining what you can do or how you can do it, let’s talk. I would love the opportunity to support you more! ♥️♥️♥️

Spread the love
